The Ingredients & Instructions:
Ingredients
- 2 cups WATER
- 1 cup uncooked JASMINE RICE
- 1 tbsp. SESAME OIL
- ¾ cup SOY SAUCE
- ¼ cup HONEY
- 1-2 tbsp. Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1inch grated FRESH GINGER
- 2 cloves minced GARLIC
- 2 tsp SESAME OIL
- 2 tbsp. EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE, SESAME, or PEANUT OIL
- 3 sliced BELL PEPPERS
- 1 chopped ZUCCHINI
- 1 ½ lbs. SKIRT or FLANK STEAK, thinly slice against the grain
- 4 chopped GREEN ONIONS
- ½ cup FRESH BASIL, roughly chopped
Instructions
- Add WATER to a medium pot and bring to a boil over high heat; add the RICE and SESAME OIL and stir to combine.
- Cover the pot and simmer for ten minutes on low and then turn the heat off completely.
- Let the RICE sit, covered, for another 15 minutes; remove the lid and fluff the RICE with a fork, set aside covered to keep warm.
- In a large measuring cup or bowl, combine the SOY SAUCE, HONEY, GOCHUJANG, GINGER, GARLIC and 2 tsp of SESAME OIL.
- Heat 1 tbsp OIL in large skillet over high heat and sauté the PEPPERS and ZUCCHINI until they are soft and tender, remove from skillet to a plate.
- Return the skillet to high heat and add another tablespoon of OIL, add the STEAK and cook, undisturbed for 2-3 minutes; stir and cook undisturbed for another 2-3 minutes.
- Add the SAUCE and bring to a boil, reduce the heat to medium and cook until the SAUCE thickens and begins to coat the STEAK.
- Add the PEPPERS, ZUCCHINI, and GREEN ONIONS, cook 1 minute; remove from the heat and stir in the BASIL.
- Serve over warm RICE.
